Carré d’Etoiles is an ingenious new holiday concept straight out of from France. The basic premise was to create self-contained, environmentally-friendly accommodation that can be situated in any location and climate. And to make it as cheaply as possible without losing any of the quality or design elements. A challenge, to say the least.
The result? a 3m cubed ‘pod’, complete with a telescope, as well as a fireplace, flat screen TV, iPod dock and – la piece de resistance – a window that lets you stargaze from bed. At 10 square metres, there’s not a lot of room for much other than sleeping and eating. But at 90 euros per night for simple accommodation in some of France’s most stunning locales, who cares?
