It’s funny how buildings are like people, with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. Some are like a suburban housewife – tired, a bit shabby and past their prime. Others are like arrogant bankers – big, brassy and in-yer-face. Sometimes, you meet a building that is more like the person we all aspire to be, or the neighbour we all want to have – charming, confident, cute yet never overbearing. Swedish architecture firm Elding Oscarson have done just that in the small town of Landskrona.
Featured on the ever-wonderful ArchDaily, the townhouse was built in an old residential area in an up-and-coming village outside of Malmo. It manages to remain separate yet connected to its much older neighbours. Inside, light, bright spaces look inwards towards a peaceful courtyard, while soaring ceilings provide a sense of space and freedom. And although it is remarkably different from the rest of the street, it enhances – not dominates – its surrounds, through clever use of scale and massive doses of cuteness. Clever and cute – who wouldn’t want a neighbour like that?

Nice S.O.B. !!!
I would to a bit more (study work) on the roof/second storey area but overall I like it ! Great little project. Very brave shot. I love it!
