It’s Friday, and it’s been a big week. Nothing too dramatic, but just one of those weeks where you look back and are glad it’s over.
At the end of such a week, I get the urge to plan a holiday. Even if I never book, the simple act of looking for flights, exploring fabulous hotels and michelin-starred restaurants, is a cathartic one. My fake holidays are almost as enjoyable as the real thing.
Reiner Riedler’s Fake Holidays series (which made it to the top 50 of the prestigious Critical Mass) explores how humans accept imitations as being almost as good – or sometimes even better – than the real thing. It also critiques how artificiality and simulation is becoming more prevalent in our virtual world.
